Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, "With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man."

Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, whom you love —Isaac —and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you."

Jacob made love to Rachel also, and his love for Rachel was greater than his love for Leah. And he worked for Laban another seven years.

Cain made love to his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch.

And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,

"’Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

In accordance with your great love, forgive the sin of these people, just as you have pardoned them from the time they left Egypt until now."

Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,
