hope
For I am waiting for you, O Lord. You must answer for me, O Lord my God.
Do not snatch your word of truth from me, for my only hope is in your laws.
Don't let those who trust in you stumble because of me, O Sovereign Lord Almighty. Don't let me cause them to be humiliated, O God of Israel.
So each generation can set its hope anew on God, remembering his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.
Lord, sustain me as you promised, that I may live! Do not let my hope be crushed.
Don't count on your warhorse to give you victory— for all its strength, it cannot save you.
The godly can look forward to happiness, while the wicked can expect only wrath.
The hopes of the godly result in happiness, but the expectations of the wicked are all in vain.
When the wicked die, their hopes all perish, for they rely on their own feeble strength.
The wicked are crushed by their sins, but the godly have a refuge when they die.
